kevinfong.jpgPrivate Equity Hub reports that Kevin Fong and Mayfield Fund have made a split official, but with the understanding that Fong will continue to retain his board seats on behalf of Mayfield and remain as the firm's contact with Chinese affiliate GSR Ventures.

No word yet on what Fong will do, but increasing involvement in Chinese technology ventures and some reported friction over the extent of Mayfield's commitment are likely to generate more news from Fong on the Chinese front. A 20-year Mayfield partner, Fong was one of the first ethnically Chinese investors to initiate participation by a blue-chip U.S. firm in the Chinese market. - Clifford Carlsen
