What Sequoia Capital looks for in a startup

Sequoia Capital exited another investment this week when Greenfield Networks was sold to Cisco for an undisclosed amount. While the return was probably not particularly impressive, Sequoia is on a hot streak having exited Topio earlier this month and YouTube last month.

The firm recently updated its web site to reflect its bulging portfolio and international presence. One of the useful pieces of information there is a list of characteristics that Sequoia looks for in prospective portfolio companies:
