Who says the residents of Silicon Valley only care about horses and microchips? Members of the venture capital, private equity, investment banking and high-tech corporate communities are sponsoring the San Francisco production of The The Color Purple. Proceeds will go to Champion Charities, established by 49ers greats Harris Barton and Ronnie Lott to promote the well-being of children and families.

The sponsors include some of the most powerful dealmakers. They will gather at the Civic Center Plaza for a pre-party before attending the musical at the Orpheum Theatre. But, it doesn't take much to gaze at the well-to-do from the balcony. Tickets start at just $40. Here is a key to the list of some of the sponsors mentioned on the invitation below:

John Doerr - Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers legend
George Roberts - the 'R' in KKR
Doug Mackenzie - affiliated partner at KPCB
Doug Shorenstein - real estate mogul
Kevin Compton - affiliated partner at KPCB
Eddie DeBartolo - the dearly missed former San Francisco 49ers owner
Wes Edens - chairman of Fortress Investment Group
Warren Hellman - Hellman & Friedman legend
Bill Campbell - Intuit chairman
Doug Leone - Sequoia Capital general partner
John Walecka - Redpoint Ventures founding partner
Geoff Yang - Redpoint Ventures founding partner
Doug Roux - Silver Lake co-founder
