Freshly-
funded playlisting site
Blip.fm is preparing to launch a Facebook application, if one of its employees'
music posts is to be believed. The so-called "
Twitter-for-music" site has become visibly more popular in recent weeks, drawing attention for its familiar user interface, free access to songs floating around on the Web (accessed, invisibly, by search engines such as
Skreemr and
Seeqpod), and shareable playlisting features.
Founding CEO Jeff Yasuda
told me last month that its insider investors had kicked in a fourth installment of fresh capital, though he didn't mention plans to extend Blip.fm's reach into Facebook. But one of the company's
engineers let it slip this afternoon -- while
posting a Nine Inch Nails song -- that Blip.fm will soon be represented on the social network.
Blip.fm is the creation of Fuzz Artists Inc., a San Francisco-based startup that originally created music-focused social network
Fuzz.com. The company recently reorganized its efforts behind Blip.fm, which swiftly became its most popular service in the months after its spring 2008 launch, and opened up an API a few weeks ago. The company has never named its venture investors, but Yasuda says they include individuals connected to Google Inc. [
GOOG]; early Google employee Chris Skarakis was identified
here as a Fuzz executive upon its launch in mid-2007.
