IntelePeer Inc., which provides a Web-based technology platform that lets businesses make phone calls from within Web applications, on Tuesday said it
completed an $18 million Series C round of funding. The round was led by new investor VantagePoint Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Kennet Venture Partners, NorthCap Partners and
EDF Ventures. Funds will be used
to expand the company's global presence and to support development of its services.
IntelePeer's technology is used by software
vendors, telecommunications carriers and online businesses to provide voice
and multimedia capabilities from within an enterprise application to any phone or network-connected device. It claims to be superior to low-cost, consumer VoIP services by offering a higher quality transmission through its voice peering network.
IntelePeer, which changed its name from VoEx Inc. last year, raised $12 million in second round funding in 2006.
