OGPlanet
El Segundo, Calif.-based OGPlanet, a provider of multiplayer online games, has received an undisclosed amount of funding from DFJ Athena of Seoul. The proceeds will go toward funding the company's growth. Founded in 2005, OGPlanet licenses online games from Korea and markets them in the U.S. Its game portfolio of massively multiplayer online games includes Cabal Online, Rumble Fighter Albatross18 and La Tale.

Wakonda
Photovoltaic material maker Wakonda Technologies Inc. has secured $9.5 million in Series A capital that will fund the development of high-efficiency, low-cost solar cells. Investors include Advanced Technology Ventures of Palo Alto, Calif., General Catalyst Ventures of Cambridge, Mass., Polaris Venture Partners of Waltham, Mass., Applied Ventures LLC of Santa Clara, Calif., and the Massachusetts Green Energy Fund of Brookline, Mass. The company is developing a material that it claims will match that the high efficiency of gallium arsenide and other expensive compounds used in special applications like satellite solar panels.

Nuventix
Nuventix, Inc. of Austin, Texas, has closed a $14 million Series C round of funding led by Advanced Technology Ventures of Palo Alto, Calif. The company has developed a technology for thermal management of consumer electronics, LED lighting, medical, telecommunications, automotive and other electronics. Its SynJet product is designed to dissipate heat from any surface. The funding will be used to expand the company's product offering for new markets for harsh environment cooling such as telecommunications and outdoor lighting.
