iControl Networks Inc., a Palo Alto, Calif., provider of consumer-focused security technology, closed a $15.5 million Series B funding. The company will use the proceeds to expand into the broadband and other markets. New investor Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers of Menlo Park, Calif., led the round, which includes existing investors Intel Capital of Santa Clara, Calif., and Charles River Ventures of Waltham, Mass. --George White

Vlingo
Mobile voice search startup Vlingo Corporation has secured a $20 million Series B financing led by Yahoo! Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif. Also participating were existing investors Charles River Ventures of Waltham, Mass., and Sigma Partners of Boston. Cambridge, Mass.-based Vlingo plans to will use the capital for international expansion and product development. Yahoo! will take a seat on the company's board of directors. The Internet portal uses Vlingo's voice-powered interface to enable searches on mobile phones for its Yahoo! oneSearch product. --G.W.

Nanosolar
Nanosolar Inc., a Palo Alto, Calif., provider of lower-cost solar energy panels, has raised $50 million from France's EDF Energies Nouvelles SA. Under the deal Nanosolar will supply EDF with solar panels. The solar cell developer previously landed $75 million in equity funding and a $25 million government subsidy for construction of new manufacturing facilities. Other investors in the company included hedge funds' SAC Capital Advisors LLC of Stamford, Conn.; GLG Partners LP of London; Swiss Re of Zurich; Grazia Equity GmbH of Stuttgart, Germany; Beck Energy GmbH of Dimbach, Germany; SAP AG founders Klaus Tschira and Dietmar Hopp; Apax Partners' Christian Reitberger; former eBay Inc. executive Jeff Skoll; Mohr Davidow Ventures and Benchmark Capital, both of Menlo Park, Calif.; OnPoint Technologies of Maitland, Fla.; the venture arm of the U.S. Army; U.S. Venture Partners of Menlo Park; and seed investors Google Inc. co-founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin. --G.W.

ScaleMP
Cupertino, Calif., virtualization software developer ScaleMP raised $8 million in a Series D round of venture capital, which the five-year-old company will use to boost sales of its high-performance computing technology and expand into lower end systems for core business applications. The company turned to insiders Sequoia Capital of Herzelia, Lightspeed Venture Partners of Menlo Park, Calif., TL Ventures of Wayne, Pa., and ABS Ventures of Waltham, Mass., for the additional funding, which is positioned as the company's final private round. --Clifford Carlsen

Uplogix
Uplogix Inc. of Austin, Texas, raised $10 million in funding from Citigroup Inc., Adams Capital Management, Fayez Sarofim & Co. and other investors to support the developent of software for network and server infrastructure that integrates access control and enforcement of remote management functions. --C.C.
