Semiconductors SiBEAM Sunnyvale, Calif.-based wireless chip developer SiBeam Inc. tapped longtime backers New Enterprise Associates, US Venture Partners and Foundation Capital, all of Menlo Park, Calif., in closing a $40 million Series C round of funding to support commercial production of low-cost CMOS chips to power high-bandwidth video transmission. The funding brings total venture investment in SiBeam to $76 million and will finance commercial production of chips used in products for transmitting audio and video for high-definition television. --Clifford Carlsen Networking Fidelis Security Bethesda, Md.-based network security startup Fidelis Security Systems Inc. has completed a $22 million Series B round. New investors Tudor Ventures of Boston and Point Judith Capital of Providence, R.I., led the funding, joined by prior investors Inflection Point Ventures of Bethesda, Ascent Venture Partners of Boston, the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, and WS Investment Co. LLC, the investment arm of law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati PC. Founded in 2002, Fidelis makes Linux-based network security technology that prevents unauthorized transfer of sensitive digital assets, extending content security to corporate e-mail, Web mail, file transfer protocol, instant messaging and peer-to-peer communications. --George White Imperva Imperva of Foster City, Calif., has raised a $20 million Series D round to expand availability of the company's application data security products in both domestic and international markets. The round was led by Meritech Capital Partners of Palo Alto, Calif., joined by previous investors Greylock Partners of Boston, Accel Partners of Palo Alto, US Venture Partners of Menlo Park, Calif., and Venrock Associates of New York. The company has raised a total of $74 million in five rounds of financing. Imperva provides security, assurance and regulatory compliance technology for sensitive and proprietary data in corporate data centers. --G.W. Imprivata Imprivata Inc., a Lexington, Mass., maker of identity and access management appliance software, has closed a $15 million Series C round of financing. The investment was led by SAP Ventures of Palo Alto, Calif., joined by existing investors Polaris Venture Partners of Waltham, Mass., General Catalyst Partners of Cambridge, Mass., and Highland Capital Partners of Lexington, Mass. Imprivata will use the funding to expand into new markets. --G.W. Manufacturing Senscient Senscient Inc. of League City, Texas, a developer of laser diode spectroscopy technology, has closed a $5.6 million Series B financing. The funding was co-led by Emerald Technology Ventures of Montreal and Yellowstone Capital Partners of Houston. The company will use the proceeds to expand its corporate and sales operations. Established in August 2006, Senscient develops advanced gas detection products for industrial safety, environmental monitoring and process analysis applications. --G.W. Software Intelliworks Educational software developer Intelliworks Inc. of Rockville, Md., has received $4 million in growth capital from existing investors. Participants in the round included RedShift Ventures of Reston, Va., and the returning Columbia Capital of Alexandria, Va., and Novak Biddle Venture Partners of Bethesda, Md. Intelliworks is a provider of relationship management and marketing software built specifically for higher education. The capital allows the company to expand development and marketing of its suite of Web-based products. --G.W. Energy DeepFlex Houston-based DeepFlex Inc., a manufacturer of flexible, unbonded, non-metallic composite pipe for use in deepwater and ultra-deep water oil and gas production, has sold $33 million of Series C preferred stock. The round was led by new investors Nomura Private Equity Investment LP of Japan, Heico Acquisitions of Chicago, Promon International of Brazil and several members of the company's management. Also contributing were existing investors Altira Group LLC of Denver; Stavanger, Norway-based Energy Ventures; and Houston-based CTTV Investments LLC, the venture capital arm of Chevron Technology Ventures. The proceeds allow the company to expand its manufacturing capacity and to further develop its DeepFlex Subsea Technology Center. --G.W. Greenline Industries San Francisco's Greenline Industries Inc., a designer and builder of biodiesel production facilities, has completed a $20 million Series A financing round from Leaf Clean Energy Co. of London. The investment allows Greenline to accelerate research and development of its existing technology and add new products to reduce the costs to produce biodiesel. Founded in 2002, Greenline provides modular waterless systems that produce biodiesel. --G.W. Venture funds Foundation Capital Early-stage venture capital firm Foundation Capital of Menlo Park, Calif., has closed a $750 million fund. Foundation Capital VI will allocate roughly $250 million of its capital to cleantech, with the remainder going to Internet and infrastructure technologies, telecommunications, networking and enterprise software. Foundation Capital now has more than $2.4 billion under management.
