Web startups attracting larger share of European VC

Internet companies are accounting for a growing share of the venture capital invested in Europe and Israel. After hitting a peak of 14% share in 2001, Internet deal share declined to a low of 2% in 2003, before rebounding to 9% last year, according to Tornado Insider. The research firm said the busiest European Internet investors last year were Index Ventures with eight deals and Benchmark Capital with six.

This year, Internet companies have raised 11% of all the venture capital raised in Europe to date:
