Car makers need VCs

robday.jpgThe automobile industry hasn't exactly built a reputation for incorporating game-changing green technology into mass production cars. Sure, everywhere you turn you see a Prius, especially here in Northern California, but that's an exception to the rule.

The answer, according to @Ventures principal Rob Day, is for stodgy automakers to solve the problem of their shrinking R&D budgets by working alongside cleantech VC firms and entrepreneurs to invest in innovative technologies.
