Demandbase Inc., a customer acquisition software startup, on Monday is expected to announce an $8 million funding round led by early-stage venture firm Sigma Partners.
Also participating in the round are previous investors Altos Ventures and Adobe Systems Inc. [ADBE]. Sigma Partners managing director Bob Spinner will join Demandbase's board, the two-year-old company said.
The startup is introducing Demandbase Stream, an on demand widget that lets sales and marketing professionals garner sales leads from traffic to their Web sites. The new product will augment the San Francisco company's on-demand customer acquisitions platform that enables users to find and buy business contact information.
Demandbase was founded by Chris Golec, who sold his first company Supplybase Inc., a provider of software for Web-based product design and part sourcing, to i2 Technologies Inc. [ITWO] in 2000 for $380 million (JDA Software Group Inc. [earlier this month agreed to acquire i2 for $346 million). -- Olaf de Senerpont Domis
