draper.gifSilicon Valley venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson has been busy expanding its international network of affiliates. Wednesday it announced Israeli venture firm Tamir Fishman Ventures has become the latest to join its overseas network of VC partnerships.Tamir Fishman Ventures will rebrand itself as "DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures," and Jennifer Fonstad, a senior member of DFJ's Silicon Valley team, will join the newly christened firm's investment committee. The addition of Tamir Fishman boosts DFJ's network to nearly $6 billion in capital under management.

The addition of this latest partner is part of a busy year for DFJ's global expansion. In September, the firm teamed up with Russian commercial bank VTB to form DFJ-VTB Aurora, making available $150 million for investment in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Also in September, DFJ took a stake in London-based Esprit Capital Partners LLP, which has been renamed DFJ Esprit. In May DFJ got boots on the ground in South America as it partnered with early-stage VC FIR Capital Partners to make investments in the Brazilian market. Roughly a year ago, DFJ formed a partnership with Vietnamese investment firm VinaCapital Group to launch DFJ VinaCapital LP, a $50 million venture capital fund to invest in technology startups and growth companies in Vietnam. - George White
