voxify.jpgIntel Capital, the VC arm of Intel Corp., reaffirmed the chip giant's support for robust voice-enabled services, stepping up as lead investor in a $15 million funding round in Voxify Inc., a software developer that makes products and offers managed services to help call centers automate calls. The round won continued support from previous investors El Dorado Ventures, Palomar Ventures and Sigma Partners, and it brings total funding in the five-year-old company to $31 million.

Voxify's natural-language interface improves on response-based voice recognition systems to provide self-service menus. The menus guide callers to identify products and complete transactions within a single call. The company has proprietary technology based on templates that cater to the specific industries of its customers, which include transaction-heavy companies like Continental Airlines Inc. [CAL], Hammacher Schlemmer & Co. and Wyndham Worldwide Corp. [WYN].

Intel Capital investment manager Jon Kruse said the company's customer and partner relationships have given it a distinct advantage over competitors. - Clifford Carlsen
