Oberon takes I-play

  Share     E-Mail    Discussion    Print Story

Multimedia gaming platform and developer Oberon Media Inc. has purchased I-play, a developer of mobile games such as "The Fast and the Furious" and "Pillowfight," possibly for $100 million. The acquisition was funded in part by a round of funding from Goldman, Sachs  & Co., Lehman Brothers Inc. and Oak Investment Partners. No transaction details for the buy or the funding were disclosed by Oberon. Buying I-play will create a 500-person company and builds on Oberon's 2005 acquisition of Cmate SA, which got Oberon into the mobile gaming sector in the first place. I-play was backed by Apax Partners and Argo Global Capital. â€”Stacey Higginbotham
