PE right solution for Europe capital gap

ball_corinne360x180.jpg"European banks cannot exit the commercial-loan profile through high yield," says Jones Day partner Corinne Ball, who leads the firm's restructuring and distress M&A efforts in Europe. European banks must work with other business investors and develop an approach that regulators are comfortable with, Ball explains in The Deal magazine's special video series on the Globalization of Private Equity, sponsored by Merrill DataSite. "All those criteria point to private equity as the right solution to meet this capital gap," says Ball, who is best known as the lead lawyer who successfully drove U.S. automaker Chrysler Corp. through a historic 42-day bankruptcy.
