AlexisDeRosnayPost.pngGeorgeBilicicPost.pngLazard hired Alexis de Rosnay as a vice chairman of Lazard International and as a senior member of the firm's global financial advisory team, effective Nov. 12. De Rosnay, based in London, was most recently with Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., where he was co-head of investment banking for Europe and the Middle East, and was global co-head of healthcare investment banking.

De Rosnay (pictured left) joined Lehman in 2004 and became head of global healthcare banking last year. Earlier, he was head of European healthcare at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. He began his investment banking career in 1990 at Rothschild in Paris and London. At Lazard, he'll focus on healthcare and large-cap, European and cross-border transactions.

Separately, Lazard said George Bilicic (pictured right) rejoined the firm as chairman of the power, utilities and infrastructure sector and as a senior member of the firm's North American financial advisory business. Bilicic moves back from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., where he spent five months and was a managing director and head of infrastructure.

Bilicic originally joined Lazard as a managing director in 2002. Previously, he was a managing director at Merrill Lynch & Co. and a partner at New York's Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, which he joined as an associate in 1989. (Bruce Wasserstein, chairman and CEO of Lazard, is chairman of The Deal LLC.)

Goldman, Sachs & Co. elected 94 partner managing directors.

Hong Kong's Chief Executive Donald Tsang will chair the first meeting of the Task Force on Economic Challenges on Nov. 3 to increase the region's international competitiveness in response to the "global financial tsunami." The 10 members include some veteran dealmakers. They are: Stephen Roach, chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia; Mervyn Davies, chairman of Standard Chartered plc; Li & Fung Ltd. chairman Victor Fung; Margaret Leung, group general manager and global co-head of commercial banking at HSBC plc; Lawrence Lau, vice chancellor and president of Chinese University of Hong Kong; K C Leong; chairman of Roctec Futures Trading Co. Ltd.; KPMG partner Ayesha Macpherson; Centaline (Holdings) Co. Ltd. chairman Shih Wing-ching; Patrick Wang; chairman and CEO of Johnson Electric Holdings Ltd. and chairman of Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute; and Mathias Woo, executive director of Zuni Icosahedron.

Credit Suisse Group hired Colin Welch as a managing director in London and head of its retail and luxury goods team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He will start in November and report to Jens Welter, head of the consumer and retail team for EMEA.

Welch is a former Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. banker. He was a managing director and head of retail investment banking for Europe and the Middle East there. Prior to joining Lehman in 2006, he worked in New York for J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Banc of America Securities LLC and Montgomery Securities LLC. Also from Lehman, Bob Elfring will join as a managing director and head of Benelux for the investment banking department in January.

He was global co-head of Lehman's industrials group

Separately, the bank appointed Ray McGregor as a managing director and head of private banking, Australia. He is based in Sydney. McGregor was previously the co-head of Credit Suisse Solution Partners for Asia Pacific. He joined the investment banking business in 1996 and has worked in Singapore, Tokyo and New York.

Brokerage firm MF Global Ltd. made Bernard Dan its CEO. He succeeds Kevin Davis, who resigned from the company and its board after 17 years with the firm to "explore new opportunities." Dan joined MF Global in June as North American chief operating officer. In September, he was named president and global chief operating officer, succeeding Christopher Smith, who resigned as global COO and deputy CEO. Prior to MF Global, Dan headed the Chicago Board of Trade, where he served as president and CEO from November 2002 until July 2007, when the company was acquired by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Before CBOT, Dan worked at Cargill Investor Services Inc., where he was president and CEO.

Middle-market cross-border investment bank C.W. Downer & Co. hired Ruta Jureviciute as a director in Boston. Jureviciute spent seven years at Bear, Stearns & Co. in New York, most recently as a vice president in the financial sponsors group. She also worked in the mergers and acquisitions and healthcare groups. Before Bear, Jureviciute worked at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and Ernst & Young.

PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP appointed Richard Baird as co-leader of its global and U.S. people and change practice, alongside principal Karen Vander Linde. Since joining PwC as a manager in 1981, Baird has served as global operations leader for assurance, and held a similar role for the U.S. in assurance and business advisory services.

Finance lawyer Michael Crosby will join Proskauer Rose LLP in London as a partner. Crosby previously practiced in the finance and projects division of Addleshaw Goddard LLP. He advises on acquisition financing, debt restructuring, recapitalizations and leveraged buyouts.
