Independent investment bank Greenhill & Co. hired Kenneth Goldman as a senior adviser. He is now senior vice president and chief financial officer of Fortinet Inc.
From August 2000 to March 2006, Goldman was senior vice president of finance and administration and CFO of Siebel Systems Inc., which Oracle Corp. acquired in January 2006. Before Siebel, he was CFO of several technology companies, including Excite@Home Corp., Sybase Inc., Cypress Semiconductor Corp. and VLSI Technology Inc.
Australia's Macquarie Group Ltd. said Robert Redmond will join Macquarie Capital Advisors in the U.S. as vice chairman, resident in New York.
Before his vice chairman role at Barclays Capital, Redmond was a vice chairman of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and chairman of its global financial sponsor coverage business, which he founded. During his 14 years at Lehman, Redmond advised on many deals, including the initial public offering of Blackstone Group LP, the buyouts of First Data Corp., TXU Corp. and Warner Music Group Corp. and the buyout of Hertz Corp. and the IPO and secondary offering of the renamed entity, Hertz Global Holdings Inc.
Oppenheimer & Co. made several additions to its investment banking department. Brian McCarthy joined as head of healthcare investment banking. He was co-head of global healthcare at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Before J.P. Morgan, he spent seven years at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., where he was also co-head of healthcare. McCarthy will report to Marshall Heinberg, senior managing director and head of investment banking. Jaime Burnes joins as a managing director in healthcare from Credit Suisse Group. Joining as a director in healthcare is Eric Rabinowitz, who joins from J.P. Morgan. Rabinowitz had been with Bear Stearns Cos. since 2003.
David Sommer joined the financial sponsors group as a managing director. He was a managing director in the financial sponsor group at J.P. Morgan and spent nine years at CIBC World Markets Corp. Sommer also worked in corporate development at General Electric Co. Jeffrey Berson arrives at the technology and telecom group as a managing director from Barclays Capital. He also worked at CIBC World Markets.
Abu Dhabi Investment Co. tapped a new head of private equity to lead buyouts in the Middle East and North Africa. Samir Assaad Samaan joins ADIC from NBK Capital in Dubai, where he headed the PE operations. He has also managed funds for Nova Capital Management Ltd. in London and spent the early part of his career at Chase Securities in New York, focusing on leverage finance and mergers and acquisitions.
Vibhav Panandiker, formerly with Standard Chartered plc, joined J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. as a managing director covering private equity investments in Southeast Asia and India. Cathy Zhang also comes in as a managing director, private capital Asia, responsible for Greater China markets.
Michael Hobbs joined St. Charles Capital as a managing director in its financial services practice. He was president of KeyBank NA's Rocky Mountain region. Christopher Haymons recently joined St. Charles as a managing director in its diversified industries practice.
Previously, Haymons was a senior managing director of Headwaters MB, which he joined at its inception in 2001.
Brady Dugan, a 15-year veteran of the antitrust division of the U.S. Department of Justice, has joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Washington as a partner. Most recently, he led the DOJ's global antitrust investigation into alleged bid rigging and price fixing in the marine hose industry.
Jessie Liu joined Jenner & Block LLP as a partner in Washington. Liu, who began her career at Jenner & Block, was most recently deputy assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice's civil rights division. Liu works in the litigation group and the white collar criminal defense and investigations practice.
Ken Simon joined Latham & Watkins LLP as a partner in the energy regulatory and markets practice in Washington, the firm announced. Simon arrives from Dickstein Shapiro LLP.
Hogan & Hartson LLP said Charles Kelly joined the firm's Abu Dhabi office as counsel. Kelly advises multinational and United Arab Emirates-based corporations on transactional matters. He joins from Reed Smith LLP.
