Citigroup Inc. named Deborah McWhinney head of Citi Personal Wealth Management. After retiring as president of Charles Schwab Institutional
in 2007, McWhinney (pictured) was CEO and president of the Dennis and Phyllis
Washington Foundation. Before Schwab, she was an executive vice
president at Visa International and spent the preceding 17 years with Bank of America Corp.
Citigroup is spinning off its larger wealth management group, Smith Barney, into a joint venture with Morgan Stanley.
Morgan Stanley hired Irl Solomon from Credit Suisse Group, where he spent 11 years. Solomon joins the private wealth management division. Morgan also tapped UBS Wealth Management veterans Vincent Sunzeri and Corrine Fabie. Kirk Donaldson and Todd Gutkin, of Bank of America Corp.'s Merrill Lynch, joined Morgan in New York.
Brokers joining from Wachovia Securities LLC include William Shell, Gary Perl and Sandra Duggan. Wells Fargo & Co. advisers Chris Corona, Scott Holmes and Jeff Oetman joined Morgan Stanley's San Luis Obispo, Calif., office.
Chen Fan, head of Standard Chartered Private Equity for the Greater China region including Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China, has left the bank to pursue personal career development, a Hong Kong-based spokeswoman for the Asia-focused bank said in response to a Reuters inquiry.
