Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank plc, hired Sam Dean as a managing director, co-head of global equity capital markets, in its investment banking division. He is based in London and works alongside fellow co-head David Erickson, who is in New York.
Dean reports to New York-based Larry Wieseneck, head of global finance and risk solutions and to Londoner John Winter, head of investment banking, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Dean arrives from Deutsche Bank AG, where he was a managing director, global co-head of ECM. He joined Deutsche Bank in 2001 after three years at Citigroup Inc. as head of equity syndicate; previously, he spent five years at Dresdner Kleinwort.
BarCap recently appointed Jim Renwick as a managing director, head of U.K. equity capital markets and corporate brokering, in its investment banking division, EMEA. He reports to London-based Richard Boath, head of global finance, EMEA, and to David Erickson, head of global ECM in New York. Renwick joined from UBS, where he was vice chairman of investment banking, focusing on ECM.
Just before that, Barclays hired Gabriel Barbará as head of equities for Mexico. He reports jointly to José Antonio González, head of BarCap in Mexico, and Bill Rutledge, head of equities distribution for Latin America. Previously, Barbará spent 14 years at Merrill Lynch México, most recently as a director in equities sales trading.
