Barclays Capital hired Matthew Ponsonby and Mark Warham as co-heads of mergers and acquisitions, Europe. Working from London, they report to Paul Parker, head of global M&A, based in New York, and John Winter, head of investment banking for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, based in London.
Ponsonby (pictured) was global co-head of infrastructure investment banking at Citigroup Inc., where he spent 11 years. Previously, he was co-head of European utilities, as well as head of the advisory group in Japan.
Warham was chairman of U.K. investment banking and formerly head of U.K. M&A at Morgan Stanley. In 2006 and 2007, Warham was director general for the Takeover Panel. He began his investment banking career as an investment controller at 3i Group plc in 1982. In 1986, he joined Schroders plc's investment banking unit before moving to Morgan Stanley in 2000.
Perella Weinberg Partners LP added managing director Richard Shinder and director Agnes Tang to its restructuring group.
Shinder joins from Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he was a senior member and founder of the distressed principal investing in the Americas special situations group. Before that, he spent 10 years as a restructuring adviser, primarily as a managing director in Blackstone Group LP's restructuring and reorganization advisory group. Tang was a senior member of Houlihan, Lokey, Howard & Zukin Inc.'s financial restructuring group, where she spent seven years.
Also, the firm said this week that on July 1, Stefan Jentzsch will join as a partner in its advisory group. Jentzsch was a member of the executive board of Dresdner Bank AG and chief executive of Dresdner Kleinwort.
