UBS filed a claim with claim with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority against Jefferies & Co., which it says unlawfully poached 36 bankers. Two bankers cited as conspiring with Jefferies are Benjamin Lorello, head of its healthcare investment banking group, and managing director Sage Kelly. Lorello would be global head of investment banking at Jefferies, while Kelly would head of healthcare banking at Jefferies.
Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. named Victor Nesi as director of investment banking and co-director of capital markets alongside Thomas Mulroy, effective July 1. Mulroy continues as director of equity and fixed income institutional sales and trading. Both will report to Stifel chairman and CEO Ronald Kruszewski and be based in New York.
Nesi (pictured) was most recently with Merrill Lynch & Co., where he headed the global private equity practice for the telecommunications and media industry. From 2005 to 2007, he directed Merrill's investment banking group for the Americas region. Prior to joining Merrill in 1996, Nesi spent seven years as an investment banker at Salomon Brothers and Goldman, Sachs & Co.
