Movers & shakers: July 28, 2009

Evercore Partners Inc. said Mark Burton joined its advisory business as a senior managing director, based in New York. He comes from Barclays Capital, where he was vice chairman and a senior member of the financial institutions group. Before Barclays acquired the U.S. operations of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., Burton was a vice chairman at Lehman, and a member of its strategic committee, senior client council and business development committee. Burton began his career at Lehman in 1981.


Early-stage venture capital firm Levensohn Venture Partners hired Scott Sillers as a general partner, focusing on operations administration, fundraising and relationships with the firm's limited partners. Previously, Sillers was president of Chicago's Melvin Securities.


StevenGoldmanNJMovers.pngKramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP hired Steven Goldman as a partner in the corporate department.

Goldman (pictured) had been the State of New Jersey's Department of Banking and Insurance commissioner since 2006.
