Movers & shakers: Aug. 3, 3009

by Baz Hiralal  |  Published August 3, 2009 at 12:00 AM

In mid-August, Andrew van der Vord will join Credit Suisse Group as vice chairman of consumer in the Americas in the investment banking department. Based in New York, he will report to Robin Rankin, head of retail and consumer investment banking.

Van der Vord will arrive from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., where he was a managing director and global head of consumer and retail investment banking, covering food and beverage, tobacco and household and personal care companies. Before joining J.P. Morgan in 2006, he was global head of consumer investment banking at Citigroup Inc. He has covered consumer companies since beginning his investment banking career at Schroders plc in 1990. He recently worked on InBev NV's hostile takeover of Anheuser-Busch Cos., among other transactions.

Bing Wang rejoined Bank of America Merrill Lynch as head of corporate finance in China, reporting to Erh Fei Liu, China country executive and head of China global corporate and investment banking. Wang had worked in BofA's private equity division and left the bank in October, before its acquisition of Merrill Lynch & Co. The news comes as Reuters reports BofA is planning to expand its corporate and investment banking business by creating a subsidiary to offer wealth management services to rich Chinese consumers.
