Layoffs: Legg Mason, Goldman and more

Here is the latest roundup of financial institutions rumored and reported to be laying off.

Legg Mason Inc. is cutting 350 jobs in the next year, according to FINS.

Royal Bank of Scotland is slashing 2,600 jobs in insurance and British retail banking, according to Reuters.

Goldman Sachs Group could oust several partners this year, according to eFinancial Careers.

BB&T/Colonial Bank conducted 500 layoffs in Montgomery, Ala., according to examiner.com.
