In Houston, Lazard tapped David Cecil as a managing director, financial advisory, and head of North American exploration and production.
Cecil was a managing director and co-head of Scotia Waterous (USA), the oil and gas arm of Scotiabank, where he co-led the U.S. energy investment banking practice. Prior to joining Scotia Waterous in 2007, Cecil was a managing director in the U.S. energy investment banking group at BMO Capital Markets Corp.
Madison Marquette, a retail real estate investment and operating company, enlisted Arvind Bajaj as a managing director of Madison Marquette Property Investments, based in New York. Most recently, Bajaj was an executive vice president at Lightstone Group. Bajaj was a managing principal with Blackstone Group LP's Park Hill Real Estate Group from 2007 to 2010. Before that, he was a managing director with Credit Suisse Group in London, where he was head of European commercial mortgage-backed securities origination and distribution.
Earlier, Bajaj spent 10 years at Morgan Stanley, where he was one of the founding members of the investment bank's U.S. commercialized mortgage-backed securities unit, ultimately running European CMBS distribution.
In addition, Madison Marquette hired Ryan Colbert as a director of investments. He was a vice president at Lightstone. Prior to that, Colbert worked at Madison International Realty and W.P. Carey & Co. LLC.
Oak Hill Advisors LP hired former head of alternative fund distribution at UBS Investment Bank, Declan Tiernan, as a managing director. Tiernan is OHA's first client coverage specialist in London. He will focus on Europe and the Middle East. The firm said about 30% of its $13.6 billion of capital comes from investors in these regions.
Earlier, Tiernan worked at Deutsche Bank AG and HSBC plc, where he marketed structured and alternative credit products to European and Middle Eastern investors.
Oppenheimer & Co. brought in Paul Vasilopoulos as a managing director and head of telecom in the investment banking unit.
Since 2009, Vasilopoulos has worked at Bank Street Group, where he was a managing director in its communications infrastructure and services group, focusing on data centers, broadband transport, competitive carriers, wireline, wireless and cable sectors. He was also a managing director in the telecom and media group and as head of wireline telecom and Internet infrastructure services at Deutsche Bank AG. Prior to that, Vasilopoulos worked at Morgan Stanley and Bear, Stearns & Co.
GE Capital appointed Camille Frizon de Lamotte to lead its sponsor coverage activities for the French middle market. He joined GE Capital in 2004.
Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP added 11 private equity and real estate attorneys from Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, including partners Joseph Smith and Marshall Brozost.
Sanford Morhouse joins as of counsel, and Russel Perkins, Shawn McCune and David Miller arrive as special counsel. Jason Behrens, Geoffrey Butler, Lauren Cook, Lauren King and Jennifer Lew are associates.
Paul Hastings LLP said partners Michael Fitzgerald, Taisa Markus, Joy Gallup and Arturo Carrillo joined its corporate practice in New York from Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP.
Fitzgerald was chairman of Dewey's Latin America and corporate securities practices and was global co-chairman of the corporate finance practice. Markus was a partner in Dewey's Latin America and corporate finance practices and vice chairwoman of the corporate securities practice.
Ropes & Gray LLP is adding a Hong Kong law practice. It will be licensed on May 28. The firm tapped capital markets and public company mergers and acquisitions lawyer Julian Chung, formerly with Norton Rose LLP, for the office. Also joining is Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP corporate lawyer Gary Li. Both are partners.
New York-based AltResources LLC, a provider of fund administration services for private equity funds, named Joseph Daly as compliance director. He was most recently global director of accounting at Morgan Stanley Fund Services.
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP named David Bashford, a partner in the construction and procurement and litigation practices, as managing partner of its Charlotte, N.C., office.
