Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP said on Monday, May 28, that in an effort to preserve assets and wind down its business in an orderly and efficient way, it has filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. Dewey & LeBoeuf retained Joff Mitchell of Zolfo Cooper LLC as chief restructuring officer and Albert Togut of Togut Segal & Segal LLP as bankruptcy counsel. Press release


Copeland Capital Management hired Erik Granade as head of international equities. Granade was with Invesco Ltd., where he was a portfolio manager and chief investment officer for its global equity team. He began his career as an equity analyst for PNC Bank in Philadelphia, where he later became an international equity portfolio manager at Provident Capital Management, PNC's institutional money management division.


Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC hired Sharon Weinstein as a managing director in New York to lead its financial institutions practice, covering mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, balance sheet issues and bank regulatory matters. She was most recently an investment banking managing director at FBR Capital Markets. Before that, Weinstein spent two years at Wachovia Securities, where she was a managing director and sector head of depository institutions for investment banking.


Loomis, Sayles & Co. LP tapped U.S. Trust, Bank of America's Rowland Bankes as head of trading. Jan Sharp, director of fixed-income trading, will retire after more than 30 years at the firm. In addition to replacing Sharp, Bankes will also oversee the equity trading desk.

Bankes was most recently head of fixed income and trading at U.S. Trust. Before that, he was a managing director in the capital structure sales team at R.W. Pressprich & Co. and spent 12 years at Putnam Investment Management.


Tanya Marvin-Horowitz joined Allegiance Capital Corp.'s New York office as a managing director. She was a managing director at buy-side advisory firm Focus Acquisition Partners and, before that, was executive vice president of business development and marketing at Trinity Development Group LLC. Marvin-Horowitz previously had a stint with Merrill Lynch & Co.

She was recently elected to the Association for Corporate Growth's board of directors in the New York Chapter.


Mayer Brown LLP elected Paul Theiss as chairman of the firm, effective June 1. He will succeed Herbert Krueger, who is not eligible for another term. Theiss, 52, began his career with Mayer Brown in 1985. He is a member of the firm's management committee and was formerly a co-leader of the global corporate and securities practice.


Commercial real estate lawyer Patricia Stanton has been named partner-in-charge of the Dallas office of Baker Botts LLP, effective July 1. She will succeed Jack Kinzie, who has overseen the office since 1998. Stanton is firmwide real estate section chair as well as the Dallas office global projects department chair. She has been with the firm for 26 years.


Restructuring partner Jeffrey Krause joined Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP's Los Angeles office. He was previously at Stutman, Treister & Glatt.


DLA Piper tapped Michael Torosian for its corporate and finance practice as a partner in Silicon Valley. He was previously senior counsel in the corporate department at Latham & Watkins LLP.


The Taipei office of K&L Gates LLP welcomed Paul Cassingham as a senior legal consultant in its corporate practice. He joins K&L Gates from Yangming Partners. Cassingham advises clients in the electronics, chemicals, industrial equipment and other sectors on corporate matters.
