Muneer Satter, Hughes Lepic and Gerry Cardinale will retire from Goldman, Sachs & Co.
Satter has been with the firm since 1988 and is global co-head of the principal debt group and global head of the mezzanine group. He has worked in London and New York and was named partner managing director in 1996. Satter will remain a vice chairman of the boards of the Goldman Sachs Foundation and Goldman Sachs Gives, and chairman of the foundation's investment committee.
Lepic is head of the merchant banking division in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He joined the firm in 1990 in mergers and acquisitions in New York and moved to London in 1991. Lepic was named a managing director in 1998 and partner in 2000.
Cardinale, co-head of Americas private equity in the merchant banking division, will stay on until the end of the year. He joined the firm in 1992, spent time in Hong Kong and Singapore, was named a managing director in 2002 and partner in 2004.
Henry Cornell will be vice chairman, merchant banking division, while Tom Connolly will be sole head of the global MBD corporate credit business. Andrew Wolff will relocate to London from Hong Kong to head MBD Europe while continuing to co-head MBD Asia-Pacific with Ankur Sahu. Adrian Jones and Sanjeev Mehra will co-head the Americas equity business. Sumit Rajpal will lead the financial institutions business.
Fund-of-hedge funds EIM SA hired Robert Phillips as global head of equity long/short research, based in New York. He was head of global equity long/short strategies and deputy head of research at UBP Alternative Investments.
Advent Capital Management LLC tapped Osbert Hood as chief operating officer. Hood is former chairman and CEO of institutional asset manager MacKay Shields LLC. He replaces Ed Johnson, who stepped down for personal reasons.
Prior to MacKay Shields, Hood was Pioneer Investments USA's president and CEO from 2003 to 2006 and chief operating officer from 2000 to 2003.
Robert W. Baird & Co. initiated institutional portfolio strategy research led by Brian Rauscher in New York, chief portfolio strategist.
He will work alongside the institutional equities team. He was chief portfolio strategist at Wedge Partners and has worked at Morgan Stanley, Brown Brothers Harriman and Fortress Investment Group.
