Nomura Holdings Inc. named Jai Rajpal as a senior managing director and global head of foreign exchange. Based in London, he will report to Steve Ashley, senior managing director and global head of fixed income. Rajpal joined Nomura in 2008 as joint head of fixed income for Asia Ex-Japan, and was named sole head in March 2010. Previously, he was head of fixed income, Singapore and Southeast Asia for Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. Before that, he spent 13 years working in FX at Deutsche Bank AG.

Separately, Nomura made Rig Karkhanis head of fixed income, Asia ex-Japan. Karkhanis joined the firm in September 2010 as head of fixed income in Singapore from Millennium Partners, where he was a portfolio manager. Prior to that, he was head of rates and currencies sales and trading for the Pacific Rim at Merrill Lynch & Co. Before that, Karkhanis spent 10 years at Deutsche Bank in Europe and Asia in FX trading.


Evercore Wealth Management LLC hired Goldman, Sachs & Co.'s Jordan Szekely as a vice president and financial adviser in New York. At Goldman, he was a wealth adviser to high-net-worth individuals, families and foundations. Previously, he worked in corporate and business development at Focus Financial Partners, and as a private equity professional at Veronis Suhler Stevenson and TA Associates. Szekely began his career in 1999 as a mergers and acquisition specialist at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.


In October, Howard Davies will become chairman of life insurer Phoenix Group Holdings, succeeding Ron Sandler. Davies is a nonexecutive director at Prudential plc and Morgan Stanley. He was also a nonexecutive director of Paternoster UK Ltd. and chaired the Financial Services Authority between 1997 and 2003.


Oppenheimer & Co. brought in Robin Green as CEO and president of Oppenheimer Investments Asia Ltd., based in Hong Kong. Green was previously with MF Global Hong Kong, where he was head of Asian institutional equity sales.


Investment bank FocalPoint Partners launched an environmental services industry group and named Bart Begley as industry coverage leader. Begley began his career in environmental services by managing operations for Waste Management Inc. and Laidlaw Waste Systems Inc. He was also director of mergers and acquisitions for Waste Systems International Inc. Later, he founded and was CEO of Emerald Waste Services, which was acquired by Waste Pro USA Inc. in 2011.


Olivetree Financial Group Ltd., an equity brokerage and technology firm, appointed Charlotte Wall as a managing director and global head of product sales in London and New York, effective Nov. 1. Wall joins from Markit Securities Finance, where she was also managing director and head of sales, following Markit's acquisition of Data Explorers. Before that, she spent four years at Data Explorers and 16 years as a managing director at Morgan Stanley, where she ran the equities financing business in Europe.


Energy Investors Funds, a private equity firm focused on the independent power and electric utility industry, added associate Lydia Blandy to its investor relations team in San Francisco . She was previously a member of the investor relations department of Ironwood Capital Management.


Goodwin Procter LLP said Lawrence Chu joined its business law department in its Silicon Valley office as a member of the technology companies, mergers and acquisitions/corporate governance and private equity practices. Chu was a partner with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati PC in San Francisco.


Eric Grossman joined DLA Piper's corporate and finance practice as a partner in the Northern Virginia office. Grossman was previously a partner in the business department of Cooley LLP and represents technology companies and private equity investors and their portfolio companies.


Gerald Bender joined Lowenstein Sandler PC as a member of the firm in its bankruptcy, financial reorganization and creditors' rights department. Bender hails from O'Melveny & Myers LLP, where he was a partner.


Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP added partner Leigh Anne Hodge in its Birmingham, Ala., office. Previously a partner with Balch & Bingham LLP, Hodge focuses on healthcare litigation.

In January, the firm added nine healthcare attorneys from Balch & Bingham in Birmingham.
