Credit Suisse Group hired Matthew Hind from Morgan Stanley as head of Canada metals and mining investment banking in the global industrials group. He will arrive in October. Hind was an executive director in the metals and mining group at Morgan, advising on Barrick Gold Corp.'s $7.8 billion acquisition of Equinox Minerals Ltd., Kinross Gold Corp.'s $7.1 billion acquisition of Red Back Mining, and financing for Barrick, Kinross and AngloGold.


Accel Partners recently added Jake Flomenberg and Nick Mehta to its Palo Alto, Calif., office to expand coverage of big data and enterprise software.

Flomenberg was director of product management at Splunk, responsible for its user interface and user experience as well as Splunk's big data strategy. Previously, he worked at Cloudera, helping the founding team with sales, marketing and product issues.

Mehta joins Accel Partners from cloud e-mail archiving and e-Discovery provider LiveOffice, where he was CEO from 2008 to 2012. It was sold to Symantec Corp. in January for $115 million. Prior to LiveOffice, Mehta was a vice president at VERITAS Software Corp. (acquired by Symantec for $13.5 billion in 2004), where he ran the Enterprise Vault (formerly KVS) e-mail archiving and E-Discovery software business.

In November, Accel announced a $100 million big data fund.


Venture capital firm Khosla Ventures brought in Mojgan Khalili as an operating partner. She was vice president of corporate communications for global products and technology at Yahoo! Inc. Before arriving at Yahoo! in May 2008, Khalili spent nine years at Cisco Systems Inc., working in corporate public relations, crises management and executive communications.


SNR Denton announced that Scott Toban joined the firm's Chicago office as a partner in its real estate practice. Toban was most recently principal and general counsel of the Real Estate Institute, an education provider for the real estate brokerage and mortgage brokerage industry. He was previously a partner at Mayer Brown LLP and an associate in the real estate practice of SNR Denton predecessor Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP.


Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP appointed Matthew McTygue as co-chairman of the debt finance and capital markets group alongside James Ruben.
