Former SAP AG head dealmaker James Mackey joined OpenText Corp., a provider of enterprise information management software, as senior vice president of corporate development. He reports to president and CEO Mark Barrenechea. As head of global merger and acquisitions at SAP, Mackey worked on the $5.9 billion purchase of Sybase Inc., the $6.7 billion purchase of Business Objects SA and last year's $3.6 billion acquisition of SuccessFactors Inc.

OpenText has a market cap of about $3.1 billion and Ebitda of about $333 million.

Arlen Shenkman is now head of corporate development at SAP.


Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking expanded cash equity trading and sales, hiring Mario Arace, Sunny Duggal, Gregory Henry, Brian Chamberlain, Will Morlock and Nick Shevloff.

Senior sales trader Arace will lead the firm's expansion in American cash equity and American depositary receipt trading with U.S. clients. He spent two years at Citigroup Inc. Duggal has joined the firm's program trading desk as a senior sales trader focusing on institutional accounts. He joins from Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc. Joining from UBS, Henry works in the quantitative electronic services group, responsible for selling global electronic trading services to U.S domiciled accounts. Formerly of Citi, RBS and Merrill Lynch & Co., Chamberlain, senior cash equity sales, focuses on Midwest institutional clients. Morlock, senior cash equity sales, spent 15 years with UBS and six years with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was head of U.S./Europe sales. Shevloff was with JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he was a member of the senior European equity sales team. From 1998 to 2000, Shevloff built and ran the European equity desk for JPM in the U.S. before joining Bear, Stearns & Co. as a senior managing director, where he helped develop the U.S./European equity franchise from 2000 to 2008.

Chamberlain, Morlock and Shevloff report to Chris Baildon, head of U.S. cash equity sales in New York.


Sandy Edmonstone joined Macquarie Capital in Calgary, Alberta, as an executive director and deputy head of global oil and gas, a new role. Dan Cristall is head of the sector. Edmonstone was head of global energy and a managing director at National Bank Financial. From 2002 to 2008, he was a managing director at GMP Capital Inc.


Board member Luca Cordero di Montezemolo was nominated to become deputy chairman of UniCredit SpA, Italy's largest lender. The proposal will be given to the board on Oct. 18. Montezemolo has been chairman of Ferrari SpA since November 1991. He is also a director at Fiat SpA, among other posts. Earlier, he was chairman of Fiat.

Also at the Oct. 18 meeting, UniCredit will propose that Mohamed Ali Al Fahim become a board member. Al Fahim is currently responsible for the finance division of Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Co.


Daniel Galante joined Grant Thornton LLP as national managing partner of its transaction advisory service practice, based in Chicago. He succeeds Steve Brady, who will continue as a TAS partner. Galante was a national practice leader of transaction advisory at Alvarez & Marsal. He was also a transaction advisory services partner at Ernst & Young.


Carl Marks Advisory Group LLC added Joseph D'Angelo as a managing director. He was a principal at XRoads Solutions Group. He was also a senior vice president at Platinum Equity LLC and a managing director at Alvarez & Marsal LLC.


Environmental and technology lawyer Susan Snyder rejoined Vinson & Elkins LLP as a partner in Austin, Texas. She was a partner at Jackson Walker LLP from 2007 to 2011. From 1995 to 2007, Snyder worked for Advanced Micro Devices Inc., most recently as executive legal counsel and vice president of international policy and relations. Previously at V&E, Snyder was an associate in the environmental practice from 1989 to 1995.


Michael Spielman joined PwC US as a tax partner in the personal financial services practice in the private company services group in New York. Spielman was Americas leader for individual global tax planning at Ernst & Young.


Riveron Consulting LP hired Brett Thames for its Dallas office as business development director. He was a business development manager at Experis Finance and previously spent 10 years with Paging Network Inc.


Crowell & Moring LLP added three partners to its healthcare group in the firm's Los Angeles office. Kevin Kroeker, Peter Roan and Scott Moore join the firm from Locke Lord LLP. Kroeker was co-chair of Locke Lord's healthcare practice.
