Barclays plc tapped Eugenio Cavenaghi as director for trade and working capital product management, Europe. He works from Frankfurt. Cavenaghi joined from UniCredit SpA, where he was global head of trade product development and sales facilitation. Prior to that, he was global product manager in the trade and cash division at Deutsche Bank AG.


Northern Trust Corp. hired GlobeOp Financial Services' Tony Glickman for global client solutions. He was head of risk services for GlobeOp. Glickman has worked as a proprietary trader at the former Bankers Trust and Chemical Bank, and was head of proprietary trading, treasurer and head of portfolio risk management at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.


Crosslink Capital brought in John Coan as general partner and head of marketing and client relations, based in San Francisco. Coan was a managing director of Western region institutional sales for Renaissance Technologies, an algorithmic-trading investment manager.


Alvarez & Marsal recently made nine hires.

It expanded its global private equity services practice, adding managing director James Ilaria in Washington, senior director Matthew Miller in Philadelphia and senior director Jeff Shaffer in Los Angeles. Ilaria had been interim CEO and operating partner at Allied Capital. Miller was a partner and managing director at MM Dillon & Co. Shaffer spent 14 years at Crowe Horwath LLP, most recently as practice leader for its information technology advisory group in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Steven Laposa joined A&M's global real estate advisory services practice as a principal in Denver. Earlier, Laposa was a director of the global real estate research group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP for 10 years.

In global forensic and dispute services, Renée Miller-Mizia, Jimmy Pappas and Elaine Wood joined as managing directors. Miller-Mizia previously worked with General Electric Co., Chemical Market Associates Inc. and Charles River Associates. Pappas has worked at Deloitte and Ernst & Young. Wood spent 15 years as a managing director at Kroll Inc.

Finally, A&M said Jim Kenney and Cody Chenault joined its business consulting practice as managing directors in Dallas and Houston, respectively. Kenney was most recently senior vice president, corporate strategy, for J.C. Penney Co. Chenault was a managing director at Hackett Group and EquaTerra Inc. and a solutions partner at IBM Corp.


In New York, AlixPartners LLP announced that Mark B. Smith, formerly senior vice president and chief strategy officer of Farmers Insurance Group , a subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services, joined the firm as a managing director in its financial services practice. Smith was previously acting chief operating officer and head of strategic initiatives execution for the Americas at Zurich Financial.


Energy regulatory partner Michael Yuffee has joined Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP's mergers and acquisitions and private equity group, resident in Washington. He was formerly a partner at Hogan Lovells US LLP and head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission regulatory practice at McDermott Will & Emery LLP. Prior to entering private practice, Yuffee was an attorney-adviser in FERC's Office of Administrative Law Judges.


Washington-based ZwillGen PLLC added Michele Floyd to its San Francisco office. She was most recently a partner in the commercial disputes practice of K&L Gates LLP . Floyd was previously a senior litigation director at Yahoo! Inc.


Loeb & Loeb LLP said Nathan Muyskens joined as a partner in the white-collar criminal defense, corporate compliance and investigations practice in Washington. Muyskens is a former trial attorney for the Federal Trade Commission and joins the firm from Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP.

Separately, the firm named five partners: Patrick Downes, Allan Edmiston, Rachel Harris and Christine Reilly in Los Angeles and Nerissa McGinn in Chicago.


Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP announced that Susan Power Johnston has joined the firm as counsel in the corporate trust and insolvency and creditors' rights group. She was most recently counsel in the New York office of Covington & Burling LLP.


Baker Hostetler LLP took on partner Dennis Duffy for its labor and employment group in its Houston office. He comes in from Baker Botts LLP, where he was chair of the labor and employment practice. Previously, Duffy was vice president and associate general counsel for labor and employment for Time Warner Inc.


Duane Morris LLP announced that Marianne Adriatico joined its real estate practice as a partner in San Diego. She joins from HechtSolberg LLP.


DLA Piper said Carl Buchholz joined the litigation practice as a partner in the Philadelphia office. Buchholz joins the firm from Blank Rome LLP, where he was a managing partner and CEO from 2006 to 2010.


Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP appointed Todd Young and Peter Sullivan to the firm's management committee. Young is on the executive committee and was previously a co-leader of the commercial transactions practice. Sullivan is also on the executive committee and was previously leader of the business litigation department.
