Paco Ybarra, a 21-year Citigroup Inc. veteran and former head of FICC products, will become co-head of global markets alongside Jamie Forese, head of capital markets. New product heads of markets include John Casaudoumecq and deputy head Stu Staley, commodities; Carey Lathrop, credit; Derek Bandeen, equities; Anil Prasad, foreign exchange and EM local markets; Steve Compton, G10 rates; Rick Stuckey, G10 risk security; Ward Marsh, municipal securities; Nick Roe, prime finance and services; and Jeff Perlowitz and Mark Tsesarsky, securitized markets. Separately, Citi Asia Pacific reorganized its regional structure. Shengman Zhang will continue as president, reporting to CEO Ajay Banga. Doug Peterson will continue to lead Japan; Stephen Bird will lead North Asia; Sanjay Nayar will continue to lead South Asia; and Piyush Gupta will lead South East Asia Pacific. Also, Rodrigo Zorrilla and David Ratliff became co-heads for markets, handling the fixed income, currencies and commodities and equities businesses. Aamir Rahim, previously co-head of fixed income, currencies and commodities, was appointed head of global wealth management, Asia Pacific. Ajay Banga will personally lead alternative investments. Mark Renton and Dan McNamara will continue to head the investment banking business. Lehman Brothers Inc. appointed Julian Cheong as a managing director and co-head of the financial institutions group for Asia-Pacific, ex-Japan. He will lead alongside David Kim. Cheong spent nine years in Goldman, Sachs & Co.'s investment banking division, where he was most recently a managing director, responsible for South East Asia coverage and principal investments. Cheong has also worked at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the prime minister's office and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. On Sept. 1 in London, Garrett Curran will join Credit Suisse Group as a managing director and co-head of European securities sales. He will report to Gael de Boissard and Simon Yates, co-heads of EMEA securities, and Tony Ehinger, co-head of global securities and head of securities sales. Curran will join Credit Suisse from Dresdner Kleinwort, where he was a member of the executive committee and head of global distribution and research. Earlier, he worked at Bankers Trust Co. and spent four years at UBS in London and New York. Also on Sept. 1, UBS veteran Hans-Ulrich Meister will join Credit Suisse as CEO Switzerland and as a member of the executive board. Until last year, Meister was head of business banking for UBS, which he joined in 1983. Credit Suisse chairman Ulrich Körner is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Chicago's McDonnell Investment Management LLC is opening a New York office. Managing director Michael Herzig, who joined in February to lead the sales and client service effort for McDonnell's alternative credit strategies business unit, will run the office. Life sciences lawyer Patrick Kelly joined Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll LLP as a partner in the intellectual property department and a member of the life sciences-technology and biotechnology patent practices. John Chionchio joins as of counsel in the IP group. He is a member of the mechanical patent practice. Marc Segal will join the IP group on Sept. 2 as a member of the IP litigation, biotechnology patent and pharmaceutical patent practices. All practiced at Philadelphia-based Synnestvedt & Lechner LLP. Stoel Rives LLP welcomed Irwin Treiger to its Seattle office as of counsel in the estate planning and administration group. Treiger was a partner at Dorsey Whitney LLP. He practiced at Bogle & Gates PLLC from 1958 to 1999. Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP said Raniero D'Aversa Jr. joined the firm as a partner and head of its creditors' rights and bankruptcy practice in the firm's New York office. D'Aversa hails from Mayer Brown LLP, where he was co-chair of global restructuring, bankruptcy and insolvency. Indianapolis-based Bose McKinney & Evans LLP announced that Jeffrey Mills joined the firm as of counsel in its creditors' rights and financial institutions groups. Most recently, Mills worked in the Milwaukee office of Foley & Lardner LLP and previously served as vice president and associate counsel of Old National Bank. Beverly Hills, Calif., litigation and economic advisory firm Resolution Economics LLC has added C. Paul Wazzan to its Los Angeles office as a partner. Earlier in his career, Wazzan worked for Navigant Consulting Inc. and LECG LLC. He covers securities. |
