073108_narnaboldi.pngNicole Arnaboldi (pictured) was named chairman of DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, a private equity unit of Credit Suisse Group, and chair of the firm's investment committee. Arnaboldi, Credit Suisse's vice chairman of alternative investments will continue in her role as co-head of Credit Suisse's illiquid-alternatives business.Steven Rattner is stepping down as DLJ Merchant Banking chairman after more than 20 years with the firm. Rattner took over for former head Thompson Dean in 2005 when he left to start his own firm, Avista Capital Partners.


Richard Jacobsen Jr. will join Greenhill & Co. as a managing director in San Francisco and focus on healthcare services. He worked previously for Citigroup Inc. as a managing director and head of healthcare services investment banking.


Midmarket investment bank Dresner Partners named Richard Wottrich a managing director to advise international clients in M&A transactions. Previously, he was managing director and president of DSI Global M&A, an international M&A advisory that he founded in 1992.

Jefferies Group Inc. hired Frank Merola as a managing director in its recapitalization and restructuring group within investment banking. Previously, he worked as an attorney with boutique law firm Stutman, Treister & Glatt PC. Merola will work out of Jefferies & Co.'s Los Angeles office.


Lazard has tapped Philip Laskawy as a board member and audit committee member. Laskawy is a former chairman and chief executive of Ernst & Young.


Barclays Capital named Anatoly Nakum managing partner and head of high-grade and crossover flow trading in its U.S. fixed income group. He joins the New York office from Deutsche Bank AG. Nakum will report to Doug Warren, managing director and head of North American credit trading.


Guggenheim Partners LLC broker-dealer subsidiary Guggenheim Capital Markets LLC has added Scott Buchta to head its new investment strategies group. Previously, Buchta oversaw Bear Stearns Cos.' mortgage products group and served as a senior managing director in its portfolio strategies division. The new Guggenheim group will be based in Chicago.


Stephanie Acheson has joined KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc. as a director in its private placements group, charged with raising capital for bank clients. She worked previously for LaSalle Bank Corp., ABN Amro Bank NV and Banc of America Securities LLC. In her new role, Acheson reports to Andy Goff, the managing director of the private placement group.


U.K. insurance group Friends Provident plc appointed Charles Bellringer a board member and interim chief financial officer effective Aug. 4.

Bellringer is a director of restructuring firm AlixPartners Ltd. and will remain in that role while he serves as Friends' interim CFO. He has held senior positions with Legal & General Group plc, General Electric Co.'s GE Capital, Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and Equitable Life Assurance Society.

Trevor Matthews began as Friends CEO July 30. He joins from Standard Life plc, having served as chief executive since 2004. Before that, he was president and CEO of Manulife Financial Corp.'s Manulife Japan.


Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management added Juan Dibildox as an investment representative in Miami. Dibildox reports to Jon Mallon, executive director and manager of the firm's private wealth office in Miami. Dibildox joins from Lehman Brothers Inc.


Jonathan Heathcote has joined European midmarket private equity firm Palamon Capital Partners as a partner in London. He moves from European Acquisition Capital Ltd., where he spent nine years as a partner.


Jeff Kessler has joined Imperial Capital LLC as a managing director of sales and trading. Previously, Kessler spent 20 years at Lehman Brothers Inc. as a senior analyst.


Life sciences venture firm Quaker BioVentures promoted Geeta Vemuri to partner. She joined the Philadelphia-based firm as a senior associate in 2003 and earlier was an associate at Toucan Capital Corp.


Bryan Cave LLP has added eight attorneys in its Chicago office from Bell, Boyd & Lloyd LLP.

New partners include: Nicola Fiordalisi (corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and cross-border transactions); Bryan Kent (environmental, energy, health and safety issues); Francis Lyons (environmental compliance, corporate environmental audits and due diligence and other areas); S. Patrick McKey (commercial litigation, international disputes, products liability and public law); and Mike Ohm (environmental, energy and natural resource law).

New counsel includes: Thor Ketzback (environmental law, Clean Air Act counseling and litigation) and Brent Vincent (environmental law and litigation). The new associate is Allyson Wilcox (environmental transaction and litigation).


Wayne Lee Thomas has joined the litigation group of Akerman Senterfitt as a shareholder in Tampa, Fla. He joins from his own firm, which dates to 1995.
