Deutsche Bank AG hired Laurence Madsen as a managing director in its institutional client group within the global markets division. Based in New York, Madsen will cover specialty sales for financial institutions, reporting to Leslie Pfrang, head of equity specialty sales in North America. Madsen arrives after more than 13 years at UBS, where she was a managing director and equity desk analyst focused on financial institutions. Previously, Madsen was an investment banker focusing on cross-border mergers and acquisitions. Pali Capital Inc. made four hires in Boston: Frank Casey, Chris Pillsbury and Barak Shibles, sales trading; and John Curran, research sales. Senior managing director Dennis Leddy runs the office. Casey joins from Susquehanna International Group LLP. Previously, he was with Prudential plc for four years and Citigroup Inc. for five. Curran was with Citi's global special situations group. Pillsbury joins Pali from Bank of America Corp., where he was a principal and head of sales trading in Boston. Shibles comes from Deutsche Bank AG in Boston, where he was a vice president in sales trading. Also in Boston, Pali recently hired Josh Altschuler from Wachovia Securities LLC, covering research sales. Additionally, Kevin Scherer, who spent 12 years with Citigroup 's Smith Barney unit, joined the international equities trading team in New York. Steve Kepler and Mark Gabhart arrived as sales traders in the firm's new San Francisco office, while Michael Savini joined as head of Midwest research sales, working out of Pali's Chicago office. Kepler was an equity sales trader at Jefferies & Co. for 16 years, where he helped build its West Coast effort. Gabhart has worked at Pequot Capital Management Inc. and was a senior equities trader at Citadel Investment Group LLC. Savini covered the Midwest and South as a research salesman for Susquehanna International.
