In February, Hagel (pictured) joined McCarthy Group LLC's private equity business, McCarthy Capital Corp., as a senior adviser, working from Omaha and Washington. Before his election to the Senate in 1996, Hagel was president of McCarthy. Coutts & Co. named Michael Morley CEO to replace Sarah Deaves, who will become managing director of affluent banking at RBS U.K. Retail. Morley was most recently at Singer and Friedlander as head of wealth management. Before that, he was head of international private banking at Barclays Wealth and CEO of Barclays in Switzerland. Morley also spent eight years with Merrill Lynch & Co. Putnam Investments appointed Paul Harrison as a senior vice president in the global institutional management group, responsible for distribution in the Middle East and Africa. He reports to Joseph Phoenix, head of international growth strategy, based in London. Harrison joins Putnam from Fortis Investments, where he was head of Middle East and Africa. Financial advisory and investment banking firm Algon Group LLC hired Brad Edwards to head its financial sponsor efforts, based in Greenwich, Conn. He reports to founder Troy Taylor. Edwards worked in the sponsor coverage and leveraged finance team at BMO Capital Markets. Nicholas Grambas joined Baker & McKenzie LLP as a partner in Melbourne, Australia. Grambas joins from Macquarie Group Ltd., where he was head of Macquarie Capital Funds (Middle East), based in Abu Dhabi. He also spent 10 years at Freehills and originally joined Baker & McKenzie in 1986. Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP hired U.K. corporate attorney Adam Signy as a partner in London.
