— Movers and Shakers —
Last week, Skadden mergers and acquisitions lawyers David Fox and Daniel E. Wolf joined Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Fox was a leader of Skadden's corporate group and had been a member of its policy committee. Deutsche Bank AG appointed Robert Rankin CEO of Asia Pacific (ex-Japan), effective June 10. He replaces Colin Grassie, who is returning to Europe. Rankin, based in Hong Kong, will report to Jürgen Fitschen, member of the management board and global head of regional management. Previously, Rankin was head of investment banking, Asia Pacific, at UBS. He was also a member of the Asia Pacific management committee and of the investment banking board, as well as chairman of the management advisory committee of the UBS Securities joint venture in China. He has worked at UBS since 1990. When Rankin left UBS in March, the bank split his role between Matthew Hanning and David Chin. Hanning was head of mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance for Asia-Pacific, while Chin was Asia head of the financial institutions group. Henry Cai was named chairman of Asia investment banking at UBS. Thierry Monjauze, who was co-head of the European technology group at Deutsche Bank AG, has left the bank. His co-head, Charles Bryant, is now head of renewables at Deutsche. Monjauze may join a tech boutique or start his own firm. Steve Sakwa joined New York-based ISI Group Inc. Sakwa was an analyst of U.S. real estate investment trusts at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Check The Deal Pipeline for updates on these Movers & shakers:
