Barclays Capital hired Jim Chapman as head of power and utilities investment banking, Asia (ex-Japan). Chapman was head of power banking for that region at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Five other bankers will join with him. Before BofA-Merrill, all had been with Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.
Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. enlisted George Goncalves for its debt capital markets team as a managing director and head of fixed-income rates strategy. He reports to Brian Edmonds, head of the primary dealer's interest rates product division. Goncalves held similar fixed-income research and strategy positions at Morgan Stanley and Banc of America Securities LLC. He also worked at Merrill Lynch Asset Management.
In New York, FBR Capital Markets Corp. hired Paul Brown as a managing director, high-yield capital markets, in its debt capital markets group. Brown was a director on BNP Paribas SA's high-yield capital markets team, where he helped to build its middle-market and energy high-yield businesses.
