EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
  • Alan Murray will join Bank of America Merrill Lynch as managing director of energy corporate and i-banking
  • BofA Merrill made Erh Fei Liu its China head of corporate and investment banking
  • Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Research hired three U.S. biotechnology analysts

Alan Murray will join Bank of America Merrill Lynch's global corporate and investment banking business as managing director of energy corporate and investment banking in late September. Murray was previously global head of energy mergers and acquisitions at Citigroup Inc. in New York. He will report to Scott Van Bergh, Americas head of energy corporate and investment banking. Murray joined Citigroup following its acquisition of Schroders plc, where he was co-head of the global energy team and earlier headed Schroders' European oil and gas team in London.

Separately, BofA Merrill made Erh Fei Liu its China head of corporate and investment banking, in addition to his current role as China country executive. He will report to Jayanti Bajpai and Jiro Seguchi, Asia-Pacific co-heads of corporate and investment banking.

Separately, Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Research hired U.S. biotechnology analysts Rachel McMinn, Masha Chapman and Sarah Stinson from Cowen and Co. LLC. McMinn was a senior biotechnology analyst there since 2007. The team will be based in San Francisco and will report to Michael Rietbrock, deputy director of Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Americas Equity Research.

Before joining Cowen, McMinn worked at Piper Jaffray & Co. since 2001. Chapman joined Cowen in May 2007. Previously, Chapman worked at Piper Jaffray since 2005. Stinson joined Cowen in June 2002. Before that, she worked at Robertson Stephens Inc. for 11 years.


Standard Chartered plc completed its acquisition of First Africa Group Holdings Ltd. and appointed its CEO, Kofi Adjepong-Boateng, as the head of the strategic client coverage group for Africa.
