  • BTIG LLC expanded its fixed-income group, taking Barclays Capital's Joe Labriola
  • Gary Crittenden, chairman of Citi Holdings, is leaving to join Huntsman Gay Global Capital

Bank of America Merrill Lynch said A.J. Murphy will join the company in October as a managing director and head of Americas leveraged loan capital markets. Murphy will work from New York and report to David Flannery, head of global leveraged finance. At J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Murphy is a senior officer in the leveraged capital markets group, which includes both leveraged loan and high-yield bond underwriting. She had worked at Deutsche Bank AG for nine years in the leveraged debt capital markets group.

In addition to leveraged loans, BofA Merrill's leveraged finance business includes global loan syndications, led by Tom Okel, and high-yield capital markets, led by John Cokinos.

Institutional broker-dealer BTIG LLC expanded its fixed-income group. Joe Labriola joins from Barclays Capital, where he was in the principal strategies group, responsible for credit research, trading and risk management in the financial institutions, insurance and real estate sectors. Steve Cohen will be a fixed-income desk analyst on the high-yield distressed desk. Before BTIG, Cohen was a managing director in high-yield research at Citigroup Inc., where he spent 16 years.

John Walsh and Michael Kirsch also join the high-yield distressed sales team. Walsh joined from Bank of America Corp., where he was a managing director and senior high-yield trader for the healthcare, industrials, services and restaurant sectors. Kirsch spent 10 years at Morgan Stanley in leveraged credit. Jon Bass, formerly of UBS, and John Purcell, formerly of Citigroup, launched BTIG's global fixed-income group in February.
