Meissner was head of investment banking for Europe at Lehman. Vereker (pictured) was co-head of investment banking for Europe and the Middle East alongside Alexis de Rosnay at Lehman. (De Rosnay recently became a vice chairman of Lazard International.) Schiffman was Lehman's co-head of global media investment banking. Separately, several reports said that Nomura has grabbed Shaheryar Chishty from Citigroup Inc. to head its industrial group in Asia, ex-Japan, and Apurva Choudhary from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. to run coverage of the power sector in Asia, ex-Japan. Three weeks ago, Nomura acquired most parts of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.'s Asia-Pacific franchise, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, India, Thailand and Japan.
Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. hired Gianemilio Osculati as a senior adviser to the firm. Osculati is chairman of Valore SpA, a diversified financial holding company, a position he has held since 2006. Based in Italy, he will work closely with director Mattia Caprioli to source investment opportunities in the country. McGladrey Capital Markets LLC promoted Bradley Schreiber and Sean Walker to directors of the firm in its Costa Mesa, Calif., headquarters. Schreiber oversees the recreation and leisure investment banking group, while Walker leads healthcare investment banking. Merchant bank Close Brothers Group plc opened a Zurich office and hired Jürg Glesti as a managing director to head its Swiss operations. Glesti arrives from BNP Paribas SA, where he was a global relationship banker for midcap and large corporates. Prior to that, he spent nine years at KPMG, where he headed the Swiss corporate finance division. Independent consultancy Redington Partners LLP appointed Jeremy Rosten as a senior consultant. Rosten will devise investment strategies for clients and advise on asset and liability management. Previously, he spent six years at Lehman Brothers Inc. as a member of the quantitative portfolio strategies group, where he was the chief European risk modeler for Lehman Point, a risk-modeling system. Victor Westerlind is now a general partner in the Menlo Park, Calif., office of cleantech venture capital firm RockPort Capital Partners. Westerlind was most recently a partner at InterWest Partners. Earlier, he worked in product marketing and product management roles at Applied Materials Inc. Linklaters enlisted Alberto Luzárraga as a partner in its corporate/mergers and acquisitions practice group in New York. Luzárraga has been a partner in the M&A group of Shearman & Sterling LLP since 1995. He joined the firm in 1986. David Feldman, Eric Wise and Matthew Williams joined Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP's New York office as partners. They work in the business restructuring and reorganization practice, which Feldman will co-chair. All were partners at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, where Feldman was co-head of the distressed and special situations lending group. In Silicon Valley, Reed Smith LLP took on intellectual property partners Craig Opperman and Carina Tan from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and corporate partner Michael DiSanto from Morrison & Foerster LLP. Separately, Zack Dong joined as counsel in the corporate and securities group. Dong will start in Chicago and relocate to Beijing in a few months. Dong was a partner in the Indianapolis office of Baker & Daniels LLP, representing U.S. companies entering the China market. Morgan Lewis-TMI hired Satoru Matsuo as an intellectual property partner in Tokyo. Matsuo practiced for 10 years in the New York and Tokyo offices of Morrison & Foerster LLP. Morgan Lewis-TMI is a joint venture in Japan formed by Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and TMI Associates. Bankruptcy lawyer Charles Stanziale Jr. joined the Newark, N.J., office of McCarter & English LLP along with partners Jeffrey Testa and Brian Baker. They bring two associates with them from McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter LLP. Dykema Gossett PLLC added patent lawyer Steven Zeller to its intellectual property litigation practice as of counsel. Zeller, who was a partner at Jenner & Block LLP, will join the Chicago office. |
