DanielSasakiMovers.pngLDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds TSB Group plc, appointed Daniel Sasaki as a director of its London office. Sasaki covers larger midmarket transactions, focusing on media, information technology, telecoms and other business services companies. He joins LDC from Hemisphere Capital LLC, an independent merchant bank, where he was managing partner and a co-founder. Before Hemisphere, he worked at Softbank Europe Ventures and Credit Suisse Group.


Deutsche Bank AG named Michele Gissi and Roger Naylor co-heads of the global equity derivatives unit, replacing Richard Carson. Carson, along with Nino Kjellman, former head of Asia equity derivatives, and trader Andrew Kent, are leaving the company.


Citing global economic conditions and the unsettled nature of the world's stock markets, the world's largest mutual fund company, Fidelity Investments, said it would cut around 1,290 jobs, or about 2.9% of its 44,400 work force. Fidelity said more cuts would come in the next quarter.

ING Clarion Capital, an affiliate of ING Real Estate Investment Management, said Timothy Zietara joined the firm as a senior vice president. Zietara will work on a new debt platform focusing on providing capital to the commercial real estate market, including developers and managers of institutional assets. Zietara's team will also look to purchase existing nonsecuritized loans from banks and other financial institutions. He comes to ING from the real estate structured finance and equity group at CIT Group Inc., where he was a managing director. Before that, he built new lending platforms in New York for Wrightwood Capital, Wells Fargo & Co. and PNC Bank NA.


Bank of America Corp. hired Robert de Gidlow as a senior vice president in its global liquidity product and solutions consulting team, in London. De Gidlow joined from Citibank NA, where he was regional liquidity product specialist for two years. Previously, he was a sales consultant with J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.


New Enterprise Associates Inc. hired Hugh Panero as a venture partner. Panero co-founded XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. (now Sirius XM Radio Inc.) in 1998 and served as its chief executive until August 2007. From 1993 until joining XM in 1998, he served as president and CEO of Request Television Inc., a pay-per-view network owned by Tele-Communications Inc.'s Liberty Media Corp. and Twentieth Century Fox. Before that, he spent 10 years at Time Warner Cable Inc.

Separately, Bala Deshpande joined the firm's Indian operating subsidiary, New Enterprise Associates (India) Pvt. Ltd., as a senior managing director. Previously, Deshpande was director of investments at ICICI Venture, where she had been since 2000.


In London, midmarket investment bank Lincoln International added Edward Lethbridge as a director specializing in business and support services for mergers and acquisitions. Lethbridge was an associate director at Cavendish Corporate Finance Ltd.


HgCapital, a European-focused midmarket private equity investor, promoted Justin von Simson to partner. Simson arrived as an associate in 2003, having previously worked for Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Deloitte.


Winston & Strawn LLP took on eight partners, several associates and other legal professionals from Heller Ehrman LLP. Pending local regulatory approval, the firm plans to open offices in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.

The partners joining in Hong Kong are Simon Luk, David Hall-Jones and Michael Phillips. Luk, the former chair of Heller's Hong Kong practice, covers corporate mergers and acquisitions, private equity and fund formation and advises emerging companies. Phillips handles capital markets, M&A, real estate finance, hospitality and insolvency matters. Hall-Jones covers international arbitration and complex commercial litigation.

They will work closely with new Washington international trade partners William Barringer, Daniel Porter, Christopher Dunn and James Durling. Also, environmental litigator Joseph Armao joined Winston's San Francisco office as a partner.


Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP hired Lawrence Zweifach as a partner in New York. Zweifach covers securities, antitrust litigation, white-collar defense and investigations. Previously, he was a shareholder with Heller Ehrman LLP and has served in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York as chief of the criminal division.


In Shanghai, Sidley Austin LLP tapped Katherine Wang as counsel in its life sciences practice. Wang was head of AstraZeneca plc's legal departments in Asia-Pacific and China. She will focus on corporate, commercial and regulatory aspects of life sciences matters.


Axiom announced that Paul Carr joined the firm as its first chief operating officer. Carr was general manager of American Express Co.'s international insurance services business. Before AmEx, he was a partner at Boston Consulting Group.


Cooley Godward Kronish LLP said Lynn Kirk joined the firm as chief marketing officer, based in Palo Alto, Calif. Kirk was previously CMO at Heller Ehrman LLP.


Holly Williams joined Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold LLP's employment and labor group as special counsel in Orange County, Calif. Williams was a vice president of human resources and general counsel of Endocare Inc.
