On Sept. 2, Erin Callan will join Credit Suisse Group in New York as a managing director and head of its global hedge fund business, a new position. Callan will join the investment bank management committee and the global client steering committee. Callan moves to CS from Lehman Brothers Inc., where she worked for 13 years, most recently as chief financial officer and a member of the executive committee.

Private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. hired Bill Sonneborn, president of asset manager TCW Group Inc., to build out its own asset management business. He will also work on credit and capital markets activities.


An investment representative team from Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., including brokers Joseph Bollinger Jr. and Jason Fertitta, joined Morgan Stanley's private wealth management group in Houston.


Kaven Leung, a 21-year veteran of Citigroup Inc., will join Goldman, Sachs & Co. as deputy head of Asia private wealth management, based in Hong Kong.


Stephen Callahan joined Barclays Capital from Bear Stearns Cos. as a director, U.S. government bond trader, reporting to Ronti Pal, managing director and head of USD fixed income linear rates trading.


Houlihan, Lokey, Howard & Zukin Inc. hired Florus Plantenga as a director in London to lead its European private equity coverage. Plantenga spent five years with Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking in London and Paris. Plantenga has also worked for Merrill Lynch & Co., J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and Kleinwort Benson.


Jefferies & Co. enlisted Daniela Bar-Illan joins as a senior high yield and loan salesperson and Richard Wright arrives as a senior salesperson for high yield and distressed securities and loans. Both worked at Bear Stearns Cos., having spent 25 years and 13 years, respectively.


Redwood Capital Group added Andrew Moore as a partner in New York. Moore was previously a managing director at CIBC World Markets Inc. in its media and entertainment investment banking group. He was also a managing director at BMO Capital Markets.


Independent investment management firm Drum Capital Management LLC brought in Edwin Camson as a managing director in Stamford, Conn., managing all short term special situation investments Camson served for over 17 years as a senior member at Bennett Management Corp.


Sterling National Bank, a subsidiary of Sterling Bancorp, named Al Snyder a vice president and business development officer for the firm's middle market banking division. Snyder worked at Flushing Savings Bank, where he was a senior business relationship banker.


Highland Capital Management LP will open an office in Singapore on Aug. 8. Paul Adkins, a managing director in Dallas, will relocate there to manage the new operation.


Intellectual property firm Morgan & Finnegan LLP tapped Kandis Koustenis as a senior associate. Also, Alan Sack joined as of counsel and Jason Nardiello as an associate in the trademark practice. Koustenis was the worldwide intellectual property counsel for Toys 'R' Us Inc. Sack has practiced at Hoffmann & Baron LLP.


Ungaretti & Harris LLP created an intellectual property group, hiring six attorneys. Joining the firm from Schwartz Cooper Chartered are partners Roger Stein, Richard Himelhoch, Peter Klobuchar and Stanton Miller. Susan Meyer and Bryan Sugar come in as counsel. Stein is chair of the new IP group.


Five intellectual property attorneys joined Baker Hostetler LLP in New York. They include partners Richard Lehrer, David Sheehan and Oren Warshavsky, and associates Eric Fish and Jason Oliver. All joined from Troutman Sanders LLP.

In May, technology lawyer Peter Brown, co-founding partner of Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner LLP, joined the firm.


Reed Smith LLP added Sergio Garcia as a partner in San Francisco. Garcia was a partner in the corporate and intellectual property groups of Fenwick & West LLP, where he served as co-chair of the life sciences group.


Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP expended its intellectual property practice. Martin LeFevour rejoined the firm as a Chicago-based partner. LeFevour was chief patent counsel for medical device company ev3 Inc.


William Weisberg joined Bryan Cave LLP as a partner in Washington, covering government contracts matters. He arrives from Sullivan & Worcester LLP.
