EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
  • Eric Feldstein will become CFO at New York hedge fund Eton Park Capital
  • Silver Creek Capital hired Frances Orabona as director of investor relations
  • FBR Capital Markets took on three senior managing director from Bear Stearns Cos.
On Aug. 1, Eric Feldstein will become chief financial officer and a partner of New York hedge fund Eton Park Capital Management. He spent 25 years at General Motors Corp. and was chief executive of GMAC Financial Services, where he was replaced by Alvaro de Molina. Feldstein was expected to join Cerberus Capital Management LP at the time of his departure from GMAC in March. Feldstein will report to Eric Mindich, Eton's CEO.

Feldstein replaces Patrick Dennis, who will be leaving the firm in September to pursue other opportunities.

Silver Creek Capital Management LLC, a manager of funds-of-hedge funds, tapped Frances Orabona as director of investor relations, based in New York. Orabona spent the last eight years at Goldman, Sachs & Co., most recently as a vice president within its asset management division.


Bear Stearns Cos. former senior managing director and global head of convertible trading Michael Lloyd recently joined FBR Capital Markets Corp. as a senior managing director and head of convertible securities within the sales and trading division.

Lloyd is launching the convertible securities unit with Paul Rosica, who joined from Bear. Rosica is a senior managing director and head of equity-linked capital markets in investment banking.

In addition, Daniel Blood joined the firm as a senior managing director and head of debt capital markets. Blood served as co-head of global debt capital markets at Bear Stearns, where he worked for over 18 years.


Pan-European venture capital firm DN Capital opened an office in Palo Alto, Calif. Steve Schlenker, managing partner and co-founder of DN Capital, will relocate from London to head the U.S. effort, and work closely with co-founder Nenad Marovac, who will stays on as managing partner of the London office.


Jonathan Croxton joined mortgage finance and real estate investment company CEM Capital as a director. Croxton formerly served as vice president of real estate finance at RBS Greenwich Capital. He was also vice president and deputy chief underwriter at Deutsche Bank Berkshire Mortgage Inc.


American Century Investments hired Joseph Gotelli for its fixed-income group as a portfolio manager. Gotelli previously spent six years at Franklin Templeton Investments, where he was an assistant portfolio manager on long- and short-term municipal bond portfolios.


Thompson National Properties LLC hired Theresa Hutton as a senior vice president, due diligence. Previously, Hutton was vice president of due diligence at Grubb & Ellis Realty Investors LLC. Separately, Brad Thomas was brought in as a senior vice president, retail development. Thomas was a private developer and investor in South Carolina.


Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP announced that Michael Madigan joined the firm as a partner in its white-collar criminal defense and corporate investigations practice. He comes from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Madigan served as counsel to former Sen. Howard Baker, R-Tenn., on the Senate Watergate investigation.


Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger LLP named Lee Dresie as head of its litigation practice. Dresie has been with the firm for 26 years.


Complex civil litigator Richard Ripley rejoined Howrey LLP's Washington office in the antitrust/competition practice. Ripley previously practiced at Bingham McCutchen LLP.


Baker & McKenzie LLP expanded its securitization practice in New York, adding Hans Montag as a partner. Montag joins the firm from Clifford Chance LLP, where he worked for almost 10 years.


Formerly chair of media and entertainment practice at Foley & Lardner LLP, M. Kenneth Suddleson joined Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon LLP to head the new Los Angeles office.


BDO Stoy Hayward LLP appointed four partners to the corporate finance team. Jamie Austin joined from Ernst & Young's mergers and acquisitions practice in London, where he worked since 1996. London-based Christopher Clark worked at Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers before joining BDO in 2006. Sam Surrey of London spent time at Lehman Brothers Inc. and Ernst & Young before joining BDO in 2005. Jason Whitworth joined the firm in 2004. He covers midmarket M&A.


Kaye Scholer LLP hired William Cullen and Janet Barbiere for its corporate and finance department as partners in New York. Both join from Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP, where they were partners in the structured finance practice group.


Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP said Robert Wright Jr. joined the firm's litigation practice group as a partner. Previously, he was at Miami's Coffey Burlington LLP.
