EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Greenberg Traurig LLP brought in four corporate and securities attorneys for its Boca Raton, Fla., office. Shareholder Rebecca DiStefano handles securities regulation, corporate finance and governance, private equity and venture capital, broker-dealer compliance and mergers and acquisitions. Shareholder Bruce Rosetto covers entrepreneurs and small to middle-market public companies. Both arrive from Blank Rome LLP. Joining as associates are Batya Goodman and Amy Avalos.

Recently, Joe Whitley joined the firm's Atlanta and Washington offices as a shareholder in the white-collar criminal defense and governmental affairs practice groups. Whitley was a partner with Alston & Bird LLP, where he headed its global security and enforcement practice group and was former chair of the investigations and compliance practice group.

After 24 years with Citigroup Inc., Steve Bowman is leaving the firm to pursue other opportunities. Citi has not named a successor for Bowman, who was head of hedge fund services.

Citi also plans to cut about 10% of its 65,000-member investment banking group.


After 20 years with Goldman, Sachs & Co., Howard Altarescu joined Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP as a partner in its structured finance practice in New York. Altarescu served as head of Goldman's mortgage finance group, co-head of its mortgage and asset-backed finance group and was responsible for structured finance in the emerging markets, focusing on Latin America.


In Chicago, Randy Kurtz will join Deutsche Bank Securities Inc.'s global banking division on Aug. 26 as a managing director and head of corporate finance coverage in the Midwest. Frank Oelerich joined as a managing director and head of Midwest mergers and acquisitions. Kurtz will join from Credit Suisse Group, where he was co-head of the diversified industrials group. Oelerich joins after 25 years with Morgan Stanley.

In addition, Charles Denison, currently head of Midwest coverage and co-head of the industrials group at DB, was appointed chairman of global banking in the Midwest region.


Yoshihiko Shigenari will become head of Morgan Stanley's private equity unit in Japan on July 1. He is currently co-head of investment banking in Tokyo. Shigenari joined Morgan in 1989.


Investment bank RSM EquiCo Capital Markets LLC promoted three senior vice presidents to managing directors: Mark Agosto, David Burke and Michael Parham. Agosto runs the rubber, plastics and advanced materials group; Burke oversees engineering, construction and building materials; and Parham heads the energy team.


First Reserve Corp. created a specialist insurance company, Torus Insurance Holdings Ltd. (Bermuda). David Hope was appointed chief underwriting officer and will act as chief executive until Jan. 1.


Ernst & Young hired Lee Watson as a partner. Lee joins from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he spent 12 years. Lee will advise lenders in U.K. and European restructuring situations, including syndicated and complex exposures.


Uwe Steininger joined Beiten Burkhardt as an equity partner, covering private equity and investment law within the mergers and acquisitions practice group. Steininger began his legal career in 1983 as in-house counsel at Siemens AG, where he focused on international M&A in Germany, the U.S. and Eastern Europe. He then practiced at Dissmann & Partner, Baker & McKenzie LLP and SJ Berwin LLP, where he was head of the funds practice and a member of the management board. Most recently, Steininger worked at Hogan & Hartson Raue LLP.

Also, Beiten Burkhardt hired Michail Borodin for its corporate practice in St. Petersburg. Borodin arrives from Rödl & Partner, where he managed the St. Petersburg office. Markus Friedl joined the corporate practice from Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP. Friedl advised corporate clients and PE investors for domestic as well as cross-border transactions.


Weiheng Chen, a private equity, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets lawyer, joined the Hong Kong office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP as Asian counsel. Chen comes in after eight years at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York and Hong Kong.


DLA Piper added Jan Kabel to its Dutch technology, media and commercial practice as of counsel. Kabel is a professor of information law at the Institute for Information Law at the University of Amsterdam.


India specialist Sidharth Bhasin joined Shearman & Sterling LLP as counsel, based in Hong Kong. Bhasin hails from the Hong Kong office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where he was the lead India associate from 2006. Prior to that, he was an associate in the India group of Kelly Drye & Warren LLP in New York for five years.
