Movers & shakers: Sept. 2, 2009

JessicaIrschickMovers.pngNorges Bank Investment Management, responsible for investing the international assets of the Norwegian Government Pension Fund, formed a new executive team, completing the final phase of a reorganization that started with the appointment of Yngve Slyngstad as CEO in January 2008.

London-based Jessica Irschick (pictured) becomes chief treasurer and joins NBIM from UBS, where she was chief of staff to the CEO of the investment bank. Before UBS, Irschick spent more than 12 years in the institutional sales and trading division of Morgan Stanley, where she was global COO for sales and trading distribution in New York.

Mark Clemens arrives as chief administrative officer from Citigroup Inc. in New York, where he was global CAO, responsible for the compliance and control division. Clemens joined Citigroup in 1999 and was a CAO since 2005.

NBIM said a chief compliance officer will be picked soon. Others on the executive team include deputy CEO Stephen Hirsch, chief investment officer Bengt Enge, chief risk officer Trond Grande, chief operating officer Age Bakker and chief strategic relations officer Dag Dyrdal.


Bank of America Merrill Lynch made five additions to its Asia-Pacific commodities team. Peter Beaumont joins as managing director and head of metals and mining sales and origination for Asia-Pacific, based in Sydney. He was executive director of structured finance at ABN Amro Australia and previously spent 10 years as global head of metals sales and trading at UBS. Paul Wright joins as a director and head of commodities oil and gas origination, Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore. He spent 13 years at Chevron Corp.

Other hires include John Bao Vu as director and head of complex options trading, Prakash Shah as director and head of India commodity solutions and Celina Zhang as director of commodity solutions, Greater China.
