Marsaglia joins BarCap after 17 years at Rothschild, where he was most recently co-global head of FIG and co-head of investment banking for Europe. He joined Rothschild in 1993 following six years at UBS and fours years at Morgan, Grenfell & Co. Also, BarCap appointed Matthew Ginsburg (pictured) as a managing director and head of investment banking, Asia Pacific. He will be a member of the Asia Pacific executive committee and the investment banking division executive committee. Based in Hong Kong, he will report regionally to Robert Morrice, chairman and CEO of Asia Pacific, and globally to Hugh McGee III, head of investment banking. Ginsburg was head of investment banking for Asia Pacific at Morgan Stanley, which he joined in 1996. At Morgan, Gokul Laroia and Kate Richdale replaced him. Ginsburg advised China Construction Bank on its $2.5 billion stake sale to Bank of America Corp. and on its $9.2 billion initial public offering, the $3.3 billion sale of Korea Deposit Insurance Corp. to Standard Chartered plc and on the $1.5 billion merger between International Bank of Taipei and SinoPac Financial Holdings. Last week in London, Ashley Wilson joined Barclays Capital as a managing director and head of prime services, EMEA. He reports to Ajay Nagpal, head of prime services. At Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Wilson was a managing director and head of global market financing and services, EMEA. Separately, Michael Shaw signed on as deputy group general counsel, reporting to Barclays group general counsel Mark Harding. Shaw hails from Herbert Smith LLP, where as a partner in its corporate practice, specializing in takeovers, domestic and international equity issues, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings and joint ventures.
