Advent International hired Tom Ehret as an operating partner to advise on investment opportunities in the oil and gas services and equipment sector. Ehret was previously CEO of Acergy SA, an offshore engineering and construction contractor to the oil and gas industry.

Previously, Ehret (pictured) led the turnaround of Stena Offshore, a privately held contractor for subsea and deepwater solutions, in the early 1990s and organized its acquisition of Santa Fe's pipelay business as well as its merger with then U.S.-listed Coflexip in 1995, forming Coflexip Stena Offshore Inc. Ehret is Advent's eighth hire in six weeks.

The firm recently tapped Michael McShane as an operating partner to advise on investment opportunities in the oil and gas services and equipment sector. McShane was chairman and CEO of Grant Prideco Inc., a developer of drill stem technology, for more than six years. Before that, he was chief financial officer of BJ Services Co.

Andrew Sieg will join Bank of America Corp. as managing director and head of global wealth and investment management retirement and philanthropic services. Based in New York, Sieg will report to Sallie Krawcheck, president of GWIM.

Sieg was most recently head of Citigroup Inc.'s emerging affluent client segment. Prior to joining Citi in 2005, he led Merrill Lynch & Co.'s New York international complex, the firm's international private client office. Before that, he led Merrill's San Diego office complex. Sieg joined Merrill in 1992 as an analyst in the policy planning group and later served as assistant to the chairman and president.
