Citigroup Inc. hired Bill Hughes as a managing director and head of its capital market origination Americas team. Previously, he was head of U.S. loan syndicate at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. At Citi, Hughes will work with Ish McLaughlin, who will continue to head investment grade bond syndicate for CMO Americas; and Phil Drury, who continues to head equity syndicate for CMO Americas.
Macquarie Group will acquire Fox-Pitt Kelton Cochran Caronia Waller LLC, an investment bank focused on financial institutions, for $130 million. Founded in London in 1971, FPK employs 267 people. FPK's George Cochran and Len Caronia will become chairmen of Macquarie Capital's global FIG advisory business. FPK president John Waller will co-head Macquarie's global FIG advisory business alongside Macquarie executive director Andrew Low. Charles Myers, FPK's global head of FIG equities, will assume an equivalent role at Macquarie Securities as an executive director.
