Baltimore's Legg Mason Inc. will elect activist investor Nelson Peltz, who acquired a 4.3% stake in the firm through his fund, to its board on Tuesday. This will expand the board to 14 members, including 13 independent directors. Peltz (pictured) is CEO and a founding partner of Trian Fund Management LP, which has agreed to vote its shares in favor of Legg Mason's director nominees and, among other commitments, limit its stake to 9.9% for the next two years.

Peltz is also a director of H.J. Heinz Co., non-executive chairman of the board of Wendy's/Arby's Group Inc. (formerly Triarc Cos.) and chairman of Trian Acquisition I Corp.

Deutsche Bank AG named Alexander von zur Muehlen as group treasurer. He replaces London-based Chris Whitman, who becomes global co-head of equity capital markets alongside Mark Hantho of New York. Von zur Muehlen was co-head of the European debt capital markets unit.
