Richard Morgan

Editor at large, media, entertainment & telecommunications

As editor at large, Richard Morgan focuses on media and entertainment and also pens the Backstory column in The Deal magazine. He has closely followed high-profile takeovers, management shakeups, prepackaged bankruptcies and prebankruptcy battles.

Richard is the author of J. Walter Takeover: From Divine Right to Common Stock, an examination of the M&A mania that reshaped Madison Avenue in the 1980s. Prior to joining The Deal, Richard worked at Variety, where he reported on the business of showbiz, and before that he was a columnist at The New York Observer for which he penned the Mad. Ave. Crowd column. Richard also spent a decade at Adweek where, as editor in chief, he helped launch sister titles Mediaweek and Brandweek.
